Διαδικτυακή συνάντηση του Πρέσβη κ Nakayama με τους αθλητές της Παραολυμπιακής Ομάδας Προσφύγων που διαμένουν στην Ελλάδα (Gr/Eng)

Την Πέμπτη, 5 Αυγούστου, ο Πρέσβης κ. Nakayama Yasunori είχε διαδικτυακή συνάντηση με τους δυο αθλητές που συμμετέχουν στην Ομάδα Προσφύγων των Παραολυμπιακών Αγώνων του Tokyo 2020 και την Αντιπρόσωπο της Ύπατης Αρμοστείας του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες στην Ελλάδα, κ. Mireille Girard.
Οι αθλητές Ιμπραήμ Αλ Χουσεΐν και Αλία ‘Ισσα, συζήτησαν με τον Ιάπωνα Πρέσβη για την συμμετοχή τους στους Αγώνες και για την προσμονή του ταξιδιού τους. Η 20χρονη Αλία ‘Ισσα, γίνεται η πρώτη γυναίκα που συμμετέχει στην Παραολυμπιακή Ομάδα Προσφύγων και θα διαγωνιστεί στη ρίψη κορίνας. Δήλωσε πως είναι πανέτοιμη να λάβει μέρος στον αγώνα των ονείρων της. Ο κολυμβητής Ιμπραήμ Αλ Χουσεΐν, που συμμετέχει για δεύτερη φορά σε Παραολυμπιακούς Αγώνες, εξήγησε στον Κύριο Πρέσβη ότι όλη η ομάδα προσφύγων είναι μια οικογένεια και θεωρεί την Αλία αδερφή του.
Ο Πρέσβης κ. Nakayama συνεχάρη τους αθλητές για την ενασχόλησή τους με τον αθλητισμό παρά τις δυσκολίες που αντιμετώπισαν, αλλά και για την πρόκρισή τους στους Αγώνες εν καιρώ πανδημίας. Αναγνώρισε δε, πόσο σημαντικό είναι να εκπροσωπούν όχι μόνο τους παραθλητές αλλά και τους 82 εκατομμύρια αναγκαστικά εκτοπισμένους ανθρώπους στον κόσμο, ενώ δήλωσε υπερήφανος που το Τόκιο θα υποδεχτεί δυο παραθλητές της Ομάδας Προσφύγων από την Ελλάδα και τους ευχήθηκε να επιστρέψουν Παραολυμπιονίκες. Οι δυο αθλητές ευχαρίστησαν θερμά τον Ιάπωνα Πρέσβη για τα εμψυχωτικά του λόγια.
Η κ. Girard ξεχώρισε τα λόγια των αθλητών ότι θεωρούν ολόκληρη την παραολυμπιακή ομάδα προσφύγων ως οικογένεια. Τόνισε ότι όσα έχει καταφέρει αυτή η ομάδα αποτελούν σύμβολο ελπίδας για τους πρόσφυγες ανά τον κόσμο και έμπνευση για όλους μας.

On Wednesday, August 5, Ambassador Nakayama Yasunori had an online meeting with the two athletes participating in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Refugee Team and the UNHCR Representative in Greece, Ms. Mireille Girard.
Athletes Ibrahim Al Hussein and Alia Issa spoke with the Japanese Ambassador about their participation in the Games and the anticipation of their trip. 20-year-old Alia Issa, is the first woman to participate in the Paralympic Refugee Team and will compete in club-throwing. She stated that she is ready to participate in the competition of her dreams. Swimmer Ibrahim Al Hussein, who is participating in the Paralympic Games for the second time, explained to the Ambassador that the whole group of refugees is a family and considers Alia his sister.
Ambassador Nakayama congratulated the athletes for their involvement in sports despite the difficulties they faced, but also for their qualification to the Games at a time of the pandemic. He acknowledged the importance of representing not only parathletes but also the 82 million forcibly displaced people around the world and said that he is proud that Tokyo will host two parathletes of the Refugee Group from Greece and wished them a safe return as winners. Both athletes were grateful for the encouraging words of the Ambassador.
Ms. Girard highlighted the words of the Athletes who consider the whole refugee paralympic team as family. She stressed that the achievements of this team are a symbol of hope for refugees around the world and an inspiration to everyone.
