Long-term stay (travelers staying more than 90 days)
Spouse of Japanese national
 
A spouse of a Japanese national who intends to travel to Japan with the purpose of living in the Country (more than 90 days) is required to submit the following documents for a visa application.
Please note that additional documents may be required during the application examination process.

Note: In principle, applicants should apply for a Certificate of Eligibility at an Immigration Office in Japan. However, in cases where it is difficult to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility, such as cases where the Japanese spouse, parent or any other relative is not living in Japan, please contact the Consular Section in advance to check whether it may be possible to apply without a Certificate of Eligibility.
 
 
A. Applicant with a ‘Certificate of Eligibility’ (COE)
1. Valid Passport
2. Visa application form (filled through)
3. One photo (45mm x 35mm)
4. COE (issued within 3 months*)
 *In case the COE has exceeded the issuance of 3 months, please contact us in advance.
5. Resident permit issued by Greek Government (※non-Greek nationals only)
 
B. Applicant without a ‘Certificate of Eligibility’ (COE)
1. Valid Passport
2. Visa application form (filled through)
3. One photo (45mm x 35mm)
4. Confirmation slip/certificate or other proof document for a reservation of air (/ship etc.) boarding ticket with entry and departure dates to and from Japan (※purchase of ticket is NOT required)
5. Resident permit issued by the Greek Government (※non-Greek nationals only)
6. Certified copy of the Japanese Family Register(戸籍謄本 or 戸籍抄本), stating the marriage with the foreign national spouse (issued within 3 months) , AND Marriage Certificate issued by the Greek government (issued within 3 months)
7. Letter explaining the reason of visiting Japan
8. Proof of sufficient funds to defray all the expenses while in Japan AND proof of relocation to Japan (provided by the applicant or his/her spouse)
・Certificate of Employment AND letter of mission/relocation/retirement by the employer (※details such as job position title, amount of salary, date of first employment etc. must be included)
・A certificate of income or tax payment issued by a public agency
・Recent certificate of bank deposit balance
9. Letter of Guarantee by his/her spouse
 
In case the Japanese spouse is living in Japan
All above mentioned documents 1. to 9. AND
10. Letter of Invitation by the Japanese spouse
11. Resident registry of the Japanese spouse(住民票)
