Την Τετάρτη, 5 Απριλίου, ο Πρέσβης της Ιαπωνίας στην Ελλάδα κ. NAKAYAMA Yasunori πραγματοποίησε εθιμοτυπική επίσκεψη στον Δήμαρχο της Αρχαίας Ολυμπίας, κ. Γιώργο Γεωργιόπουλο. Στη συνάντηση συμμετείχε η Αντιδήμαρχος Διεθνών Σχέσεων και Ολυμπιακών θεμάτων, κ. Ρόη Αντωνοπούλου.
Κατά τη συνάντηση έγινε εκτενής αναφορά στην μακροχρόνια σχέση της Αρχαίας Ολυμπίας με την αδελφοποιημένη πόλη της Inazawa στην Ιαπωνία, στις πολιτιστικές και εκπαιδευτικές ανταλλαγές μεταξύ των δυο πόλεων, καθώς και στη δυνατότητα συνεργασίας για τη διοργάνωση εκδήλωσης εν όψει του έτους Πολιτισμού- Τουρισμού Ιαπωνίας και Ελλάδας το 2024.

On Wednesday, April 5, the Ambassador of Japan to Greece Mr. NAKAYAMA Yasunori paid a courtesy call on Mayor of Ancient Olympia, Mr. George Georgiopoulos. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of International Relations and Olympic Affairs, Mrs. Roy Antonopoulou.
During the meeting, extensive reference was made to the long-standing relationship between Ancient Olympia and the sister city of Inazawa in Japan, to the cultural and educational exchanges between the two cities, as well as on the possibility of cooperation for the organization of an event in view of the Year of Culture and Tourism of Japan and Greece in 2024.
